Rodolfo Silva-Casarín is currently a Full Researcher at the Institute of Engineering of the National University of Mexico (UNAM). His main research is coastal engineering, including the design of maritime works, coastal morphodynamics, physical oceanography, integrated coastal zone management, oceanographic risk, marine energy, and the restoration and protection of ecosystems. Since 1995, Dr. Silva has been the head of the Coastal and Oceanographic Group at UNAM and the Mexican Centre for Ocean Renewable Energies (CEMIE-Oceano). He has more than 100 engineering technical reports produced for local governments and national ministries in Mexico, national and international companies in Mexico, Portugal, Spain and USA, and several reports for the European Union. As author or co-author, he has more than 500 refereed scientific papers in journals, books, book chapters and conference proceedings.
